“Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” ~Ephesians 5:19
I’d like to express my sincere appreciation to all those who participated in the church’s music ministry for their commitment and diligence throughout 2011. We are blessed to have such a
supportive and talented music community at Norway Grove. A special thanks to all of our musicians for the extra work put in during Lent, Easter, Advent and Christmas. Elaine and I, along with the entire congregation, appreciate the time and talent that you so generously share. A final thank you goes to our Sunday School children, teachers, and families for their help on “The Perfect Gift”. It’s fun to see a production come together and to explore and experience the talents of our youngest members!
The beginning of a new calendar year affords us a great opportunity to evaluate our church music programs, giving thought to the highlights and lower points of the past year, as well as our hopes and dreams as we move ahead. What was unexpected? What plans worked out especially well? Were there half-finished ideas that we can take another look at? What was some of the feedback we received? I look forward to continued dialogue with our members and staff as we plan our music ministry for the upcoming year. NGMLC also has a wonderful Worship and Music Committee that meets monthly and provides invaluable feedback and ideas about how to continue to enhance the worship experience. The group is currently looking for new members. If you feel this would be a match for your gifts and you are looking for an opportunity to serve at NGMLC, please contact Mary Weber or Jan Kuchar, co-chairs of the committee. They would be thrilled to hear from you!
January and February are an excellent time to join a music program at Norway Grove! We are beginning our musical preparations for Pastor Ron’s Installation Service, Lent and Easter. If you’ve seen the tone chimes perform and thought it was something you would enjoy trying, practices are held on Sunday mornings following the service. If you have rediscovered a love for singing, think about attending a choir practice on Wednesday evenings at 7:30. If you’ve dusted off your bass guitar and amp and are getting the itch to play in an informal setting, come and jam with the praise band on Sunday evenings at 7:00. Let’s keep ringing and singing together!
