INVITATION TO JOIN PRAYER GROUP!

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

The purpose of a prayer group is to give members of the church the opportunity to engage in a ministry of prayer for the church, other members, specific concerns, and local and world events. Our prayer group will further the mission of being a church that listens for and serves God in prayer. The prayer group root the church in the purposes of God the Creator, prepare the church for the presence of God in Jesus Christ and opens the church to the power and work of the Holy Spirit. Our prayer group meets twice a month on Monday evenings at church to share with each other our prayer concerns. After sharing and caring for each other, we meet at the alter to pray to our Lord. We all take turns praying for whatever our concerns may be which where brought up during our sharing time. When our personal prayers are finished we pray the Lord’s Prayer together.  Come be a part of our group on the 2nd or 4th Monday of the month. We meet for approximately 1/2  hour and any personal  prayer concerns offered each week will be kept confidential. Our prayer group is committed to praying together, trusting that God will listen and bless those for whom we are praying for.September prayer group meeting dates are on Monday, September 12th and Monday Sept 26th , both nights begin at 6:30 and we gather at Norway Grove Memorial.Prayer does not change God, but changes him who prays. We invite you to come be a powerful part of prayer.

Blessings, Veronica Eicher

BIRTHDAYS ARE SPECIAL!

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Bringing back a special tradition to know that NGMLC is a family who celebrates one another by remembering the birthday of its members. This, being the year of celebrating our 60th Anniversary, is the right time to carry on John Voegeli’s ‘Ministry of Caring’ by sending birthday greetings from the church to you.How can you be a part of this ministry?  Supplying cards – several of you do stamping as a hobby. Perhaps you are in a club already, but how about getting together as a small group at the church? Can you come on Sunday afternoon, August 22, at 1:30 p.m. (fun time) for making and supplying the birthday cards?  Everyone is welcome.  If you have extra birthday cards, or old cards sitting around that can be used, or parts of cards used for making a new card, that would be wonderful. Elaine will help start us off, by bringing her stamping supplies, and if anyone else wants to do that, it would be wonderful.  Contributions of forever postage stamps would be most welcome. The price is soon changing. Or be responsible for a month of sending out the cards. Already signed up is Elaine Jaeke, Pat Lovick, and Ginger Pippert who will each take a month.  We need a total of 12 people. The Evangelism Committee thanks each of you who choose to participate in celebrations of birthdays. You are the church. We can do all things, by faith, love, and hope.  We want everyone to be involved in  “GROWING THIS FAMILY OF GOD!”

Your ideas and gifts are appreciated and welcome.  Come to the table – the board is spread. All ye who are able, come and feast. The love we have for one another will be felt by this whole community. It is with pleasure that WE SERVE a risen Christ. GET ALL EXCITED –GO TELL EVERYBODY THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD! We will get this ministry flying again.  Thank you!

LETTER FROM BRENDA LOVICK …

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Dear Friends at Norway Grove,With great excitement, I am pleased to announce that I have been called by God and the church to serve Trinity Lutheran Church in Manlius , IL as their pastor!  I begin on February 1, and we are packing so that we can move into the parsonage before February 1.  My ordination will be on April 25, location to be determined.  When I think of you at Norway Grove, I think fondly of Philippians 1:3: “I thank my God every time I remember you…”  Although I’ve been away for many years, Norway Grove has always been my church family.  I am thankful for your prayers, support, and encouragement through my candidacy process and my call process.  Please know that I keep you in prayer today and always.  When I know more details about my ordination, I will let you know!

Peace be with you!  Brenda Lovick
